I am Thomas Jefferson. I was born April 13, 1743. I started school at the age of 5. I received a good formal education. In college I studied law.
In 1776 I was chosen to write the Declaration of Independence. I was President of the United States from 1801 to 1809. The most important achievement of my first term was the Purchase of the Louisiana Territory.
In 1809 I sold my collection of books to the government to form the Library of Congress.
My biggest obstacle was how to create a new government. My biggest achievement was becoming President of the United States of America.
I made a difference when I wrote the Declaration of Independence saying that all men are created equal.
“I cannot live without books.”
I died on July 4, 1826, exactly 50 years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
