Then you find yourself procrastinating things right until the last minute before you get started. You start panicking and frantically trying to get things done before the deadline. You wish you have gotten started earlier but now it’s too late. In short, we like to procrastinate, especially for work that we don’t like to do.
We all know what we should do in life, like studying for exams, but for some reason, we are never moved to do it until it’s too late, the habits of procrastination hurt a lot of people. Procrastination is the main cause of our failure, that’s why we should end our procrastination habits. But many people find it difficult to eliminate this habit, eradicating procrastination is not an easy thing to do, but it’s possible.
So many tasks and responsibilities that we have to work on every day. Sometimes, one day is not enough to get everything done. Some of the tasks are more difficult than the rest, the more we don’t want to do it. Meanwhile, there are a lot of other stuf that are more interesting and more pleasant for us, if possible, we don’t want to do that difficult task. Because we cannot avoid it, we postpone it as long as possible, until we really cannot procrastinate it any further.
There are several reasons why people procrastinate . One of the big reasons is that they find the task overwhelming, maybe because it’s something that they conceptually don’t understand how to do, maybe because there is a big amount of the work to be done . Another major reason is they find the task to be boring, especially if it has been repeated many times before. Just imagining and thinking of it is painful enough to scare us away and we fail to not procrastinate.
When we procrastinate , for a while we are happy, for a while we feel free. Then we do things that entertain us, waste away time to do things that are not important, even choosing not to do anything, just because we don’t want to do that task.
Eventually, however hard we try to forget doing the task, in the end we still have to do it. The more we not procrastinate, the more time we have to complete the task. Otherwise, the same task has to be done in a hurried manner. Furthermore, when we decide to work on it, there are already new tasks lined up for us to and the work load gets even more. The whole thing repeats and it becomes a vicious cycle.
Procrastination may feel good initially, but eventually it is detrimental for our productivity and our happiness. The more we procrastinate, the more anxiety we have in our heart and our mind. As long as the task is not done, we carry the thought of the task with us like a shadow and the feeling of what awaits in the future. Every work that we procrastinate also has a negative impact on our work spirit.
